Unicode characters, not font files
Instagram does not let you change its font. These styles are special Unicode letters that look bold, cursive or boxed, so they show up wherever the text is pasted.
How Instagram fonts work
Each style swaps the Latin letters and numbers you type for lookalike Unicode characters, such as mathematical bold or script letters. They are characters, not a font setting, so they stay styled after you paste them.
Only AโZ, aโz and 0โ9 change. Spaces, punctuation, emoji and other alphabets, such as Arabic, Chinese or Japanese, are kept exactly as typed.
Where styled text works best
Bios, captions, comments and Stories text all accept these characters. Use them for a short accent, such as a name, a heading or a call to action, rather than for whole paragraphs.
Most phones and browsers display the common styles. Rarer ones, such as squared or upside-down letters, can appear as empty boxes on older devices, so check how your profile looks before relying on them.
Accessibility and search
Screen readers may read styled letters one by one or skip them, so keep important information in plain text.
Instagram search matches plain words, so a username or keyword written in a styled font may not be found. Keep the words people search for in regular letters.
Instagram Fonts FAQ
Back to the font generatorHow do I change the font in my Instagram bio?
Type your text above, tap a style to copy it, then open Edit profile in Instagram and paste it into your bio.
Are these Instagram fonts free?
Yes. The generator is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser.
Why do some letters show as boxes?
That device has no symbol for those Unicode characters. Common styles such as bold and cursive display almost everywhere; rarer ones may not.
Can I use these fonts in my Instagram name?
Often, yes. Instagram may refuse some characters in the name field; if a style is not accepted, use it in your bio or captions instead.
Do the fonts work with other languages?
Only Latin letters and numbers change. Other alphabets, emoji and punctuation are kept as typed.
