What the resolution label means
When dimensions are available, IG Tools displays the pixels of the returned media version. A 720 × 1280 option is a real 720 × 1280 file; choosing it does not request a new render from Instagram.
If dimensions are unavailable, the interface says so rather than labeling a file HD or 4K without evidence. File size alone is also a poor measure of visual quality because encoding and duration vary.
Why the uploaded original may be missing
Instagram serves versions suitable for playback and network conditions. The largest publicly exposed CDN file can be smaller or more compressed than the creator's upload. A downloader cannot reconstruct detail lost before delivery.
Avoid services that promise 4K or uncompressed originals for every Reel. Upscaling changes pixel count but cannot restore the original scene detail.
