How to Download Instagram Reels on iPhone, Android or PC

First check Instagram’s Download option

Open the Reel and look in its Share menu for Download. If the option is offered, use it and check the saved file. Availability depends on the Reel and Instagram’s current app features and settings; a missing button does not by itself mean your phone is broken.

Save or the bookmark icon has a different purpose: it keeps a reference in your Instagram account so you can revisit the Reel. A bookmark is not a downloaded MP4 and does not guarantee the Reel will remain available.

Download a public Reel using its link

Use the direct Reel link when you want one specific video. A username opens a profile’s available Reels instead.

1. Open the Reel on Instagram, select Share and copy its link. A direct link usually looks like instagram.com/reel/SHORTCODE/.
2. Open the Instagram Reels Downloader in your browser. Paste the link and select Download. Complete verification if it is requested.
3. Inspect the returned video, unmute the preview if needed and use its download icon to save the MP4. Keep the page open while the file is being fetched.

Find the downloaded Reel on iPhone

Use Safari if an Instagram in-app browser does not start the download. After saving, check Safari’s Downloads list and Files → Downloads. The exact folder depends on your Safari download settings, so the file may be in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.

To put a compatible MP4 in Photos, open it in Files and choose Share → Save Video when that option is offered. If Save Video is missing, first confirm the file finished downloading and opens as a video. Saving a file to Files is not the same as adding it to Photos.

Find the downloaded Reel on Android or PC

On Android, check the browser’s Downloads list or the Downloads folder in your file manager. A gallery app may take time to show the file; finding it in Downloads is a better first check than downloading again.

On Windows or macOS, use your browser’s Downloads list to open the file or show it in its folder. If you enabled a prompt to choose a save location, look in the folder you selected. The MP4 is a local file and can be played without reopening the tool page.

Compare methods by the result you need

Use Instagram Save when you only want to revisit a Reel. Use an offered native download or a browser downloader when you need a local video file. A browser download from ig.tools does not add a watermark, but any logos or text already in the source remain.

Screen recording captures your display and may include controls, interruptions or lower-quality playback. It is not the original MP4. Consider it only for content you own or are allowed to capture when a suitable file download is unavailable.

Resolution and audio depend on the media Instagram provides. Neither a large file size nor an HD label guarantees the creator’s original upload. ig.tools does not upscale a Reel or manufacture a missing soundtrack.

Understand Reel download quality

If the Reel does not download or has no sound

If no preview appears, check the exact Reel link on Instagram. Deleted, private or restricted content may be unavailable to the tool. If a preview worked but saving later fails, resolve the link again once to replace a temporary media URL. Check your connection and free storage.

If the saved MP4 is silent, test it in another player and compare it with Instagram playback. A muted preview and a file with no audio track are different problems. Repeatedly requesting the same Reel will not necessarily recover missing sound.

Downloading does not transfer ownership or permission to repost. Get the creator’s permission when you plan to reuse their work.

Troubleshoot a Reel download that will not start

Check why a downloaded Reel has no audio
